Most people are using object storage, many without knowing it. Almost all cloud file sync and share offering such as Dropbox, Box and Google Drive are built on an object storage platform. However, there is still confusion about what object storage is as well as how and why it should be used.
As a cloud based file sharing platform, object storage is great. It is somewhat self-protecting, as it usually maintains multiple copies of data across nodes, it allows file sharing and it is accessible from multiple devices. However, object stores offer corporate much more than that.
