Endpoint protection or endpoint security is a policy-based
approach to network security that addresses risks presented by devices
connecting to an enterprise network. As BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and
remote/mobile employees practices are becoming increasingly more common in the
working environment, in addition to servers and desktop PCs, connected
workplace devices now include mobile devices such as a smartphones, tablets, or
laptops, and even specialized equipment such as bar code readers or point of sale
(POS) terminals.
